Black steel worker wins $25m damages after years of racist abuse by co-workers

A federal jury has awarded $25 million in damages to a U.S. steel plant employee who says his bosses at Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal failed to stop years of racial taunts and insults from co-workers. ArcelorMittal Warren, Inc and Clean Water Act

On March 13th 2012, the U.S. EPA proposed to assess a civil penalty in the amount of $79,350.00 against ArcelorMittal Warren, Inc. for violations of the Clean Water Act. EPA was seeking civil penalties for ArcelorMittal Warren's failure to comply with effluent limits, monitoring requirements, and recordkeeping requirements written in its National Discharge Elimination System permit.
