This blog provides information on how U.N. Global Compact participants' walk the talk. The GC is a voluntary initiative at the strategic level to engage businesses towards sustainability principles. There is however a risk of 'blue-washing' by covering up corporate misbehaviour and law infringement from large MNEs through poorly enforced 'Integrity Measures' and weak U.N supervision. Protests continue in Bucharest against gold mine plan in Rosia Montana
About 1,000 people gathered in Bucharest on Tuesday night for a third day of protests against plans for Europe's biggest opencast gold mine.

Rosia Montana Gold Corporation is 19.31 percent owned by the Romanian state with the remaining shareholders including Gabriel Resources, Newmont and Barrick Gold all three companies being Global Compact participants. The consortium itself is registered as as a Global Compact participant since 2005.
