On 31 October 2011, Statoil Canada Limited, a subsidiary of Global Compact participant Statoil was fined $190,000 for diverting more water from sources than had been authorized for the company's use. The incidents occurred between December 15, 2008 and May 29, 2009 near Conklin, 360 kilometers northeast of Edmonton.

This blog provides information on how U.N. Global Compact participants' walk the talk. The GC is a voluntary initiative at the strategic level to engage businesses towards sustainability principles.
