While no Nigerian official implicated in the $180 million (N27 billion) Halliburton bribery scam has been convicted, a Paris court, Friday, sentenced two former executives of French engineering and construction giant, Technip S.A, for their role in the scam.

Oil spills: Nigerians seek $1bn from Shell: A Nigerian tribal king has filed a lawsuit in a US court seeking $1bn from Royal Dutch Shell to compensate for decades of pollution that sickened his people and damaged their lands, his lawyer says.

Shell Liable for Two 2008 Oil Spills in Nigeria
On August 3rd 2011, an article from the Guardian (U.K) reported Royal Dutch Shell plc accepted its liability for two major oil spills in Nigeria (more). This is occurring while a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report is expected to be released on the impacts of oil pollution in the Ogoniland region of the Niger Delta.
